Damien's Lair of AWESOME

Hey everyone. I've put this page here to give you a Minecraft first-day survival guide. Follow this guide, and you'll get to day 2 easily!

 - Step 1, get some Wood. Punching trees should give you what you need. Walk up to a tree and punch it (hold the left mouse button) to get Wood. Once you have about ten Wood, you can move on to the next step.

 - Step 2, get Wool. You can get two or three wools from punching a sheep. Get about 6 Wools, then go to the next step.

 - Step 3 is making a Workbench. A Workbench lets you make many more special objects than your normal 2x2 Square. Press the "i" button to go into your Inventory screen (the i button is in between the u and the o). Find your Wood pieces and drag them into the 2x2 square (We'll call this the Crafting Box) beside the picture of your person. If you cllick the new object that pops up, the game will give you 4 Planks. Perfect! Place those Planks in your Crafting Box by picking them up, then right-clicking each square to place one Plank there. If you did it correctly, you should recieve a Workbench! Place it anywhere near you by right-clicking on the ground, because you'll need it for step 4.

 - Step 4 is building a Pickaxe. This lets you mine Stone much faster than your fists. For this step, you'll need some more Planks. Take 2 Planks and place them on top of each other in your Crafting Box to get 4 Sticks. Open your Workbench by right-clicking it and place two of those Sticks on top of each other in the center and middle bottom squares. It should look like an arch of empty squares around two Sticks. Place three Planks in a straight horizontal line on top op the Sticks, and you should get the option to take a Wood Pickaxe from the Workbench. Remember this recipe, because you'll be needing it a lot in Minecraft. You can also use this recipe with Cobblestone, Iron, Gold, and Diamond instead of Planks on the top.

 - Step 5 is a shelter. This will keep you safe from the monsters that come out at night. Pick up your Workbench by punching it until it breaks (don't use your Pickaxe!), then walk over it to pick it up. FInd a nice big mountain, then carve a shelter out of the stone in the side of it. Your Pickaxe is your best friend here, and while you're digging, you will find Cobblestone, which makes a much better Pickaxe than Planks. Once you have a nice little shelter in the side of the mountain, you can move on to step 6.

 - Step 6 is a Door. This will keep monsters out of your shelter. Place your Workbench anywhere you like in your house and right-click it to open the Crafting Menu. Place 6 Planks in a 3 high by 2 wide pillar. It should be 2 columns of Planks with an empty Column next to it. This recipe can also be made with Iron, but that will take a while to find, so don't worry about that for now.

 - Step 7 is Torches. These light up your shelter to help you see. Place some Cobblestones from when you were mining your shelter in a square in your Workbench's Crafting Menu, but leave the center space empty. You should have made a Furnace. Right-click to place it, then right-click it again to open the Smelting Menu. (If you found Coal while you were mining, you don't need to worry about the Furnace for now) Place your remaining Wood in the bottom square, and some (not all!) or your Planks in the top. Leave that to burn and go do something else. When you come back, right-click the Furnace and collect the Charcoal from the box at the top-right. Make some Sticks with your remaining Planks, and go to your Workbench. Place the Charcoal (or Coal) over the Sticks and collect the Torches that you can make. Now go around your shelter and place the Torches by right-clicking the walls. Let there be light!

 - Step 8 is a Bed. This will let you sleep (at night only) to make it be instantly morning again. Go to your Workbench and place a horizontal row of 3 Wools over another horizontal row of 3 Planks. Place the Bed in your shelter (It requires 2 spaces) and right-click it if it's nighttime already. You will see a first-person view from your bed, then the screen will ge dark blue, and when you get out of the bed, it will be morning.

That's all I have for you! If you followed this guide correctly, then you should beon your second day in Minecraft! Remember to always be in your shelter before sunset, and carry a sword with you wherever you go! If you want to know how to make all the different objects in the game, I'll be adding all the ones I know soon! Hope you all enjoy Minecraft!
