These are all the basic Crafting recipes I know for Minecraft. These are things like ingredients for Torches and special Blocks like Furnaces.

Planks
1 Wood = 4 Planks |

This block is used for most basic crafting recipes, and also makes surprisingly good wooden flooring for houses.

Sticks
2 Planks = 4 Sticks |

Used for Torches, Tools, Bows, Swords, and a few other things.

Torches
1 Coal = 4 Torches |
|
Used to provide light in caves and enclosed spaces.

Crafting Table
4 Planks = 1 Crafting Table |
|
Allows you to have a 3x3 crafting grid instead of the regular 2x2 in your inventory. Very useful.

Furnace
8 Cobblestones = 1 Furnace |

Used to smelt Ores into Ingots, Cacti into Green Dye, and Cobblestone into Smoothstone.

Used to store items; can store around 27 items, or 54 if it's a Large Chest (two Chests places side-by-side)
